Girls who sign up for our Jr. Leadership Exploration program will have the opportunity to attend nine in-person leadership development classes and job shadowing day-trips. We meet once on the second Thursday of each month per right after school for an hour. Parents are responsible for dropping off and picking up their daughters.
The schedule is as follows:
Our in-person classes utilize teacher curated, evidence based curriculums to inspire leadership and build self-confidence. Our programs relate closely to topics discussed in the books, "Lean In," by Sheryl Sandberg; "The Confidence Code," by Katty Kay and Clair Shipmen; "Grit," by Angela Duckworth; and "Dare to Lead," by Brene Brown.
Our job shadow day-trips will give our girls the opportunity to visit and tour Utah businesses and hear from local leaders. These trips will expose the girls to future career opportunities and internship possibilities. We hope that these visits will inspire the girls to explore the many leadership and career paths the world has to offer!
At the end of the school year the girls will be paired with a mentor to work with during the summer. The mentor is a local woman leader who has volunteered to share their experience and advice with the girls and answer any of their questions.
***Mentors have been advised to not meet with Grit Girls in-person without a parent or guardian present.
We are always recruiting mentors and inspirational leaders to help our Grit Girls. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in mentoring our Jr. Grit Girls please click the link below.
